Capital subsidy, interest subsidy and duty relief for new MSMEs in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand MSME Policy 2023
01 · What it is
The state's MSME policy, notified on 9 August 2023 (the English translation is dated 6 September 2023). It is in force from 1 August 2023 for five years, so to 31 July 2028. The Invest Uttarakhand policy page still lists it as current and we found no amendment. The capital subsidy depends on the area category of the district and the size of the unit; that table did not read clearly in our copy, so its rates are not listed.
02 · Who should check it
New micro, small and medium manufacturing units in Uttarakhand
03 · What it can support
- Capital investment subsidy by area category and unit size, paid in two yearly instalments for micro units and five for small and medium units
- 5 per cent more capital subsidy for units owned by SC, ST, women or differently abled entrepreneurs, up to ₹5 lakh (micro), ₹10 lakh (small) and ₹15 lakh (medium)
- Interest subsidy of 2 to 4 per cent a year on a term loan for up to three years, with a yearly cap for each unit that depends on area and size
- Electricity duty exemption for five years for new units with a sanctioned load up to 500 KW
- 75 per cent of the cost of quality certification such as ISO, ISI, BIS and ZED, and of patents, paid back
04 · What may be required
- A new unit in a permitted activity, not one on the prohibited list
- Production starting on or after 1 August 2023, within the policy period
- A detailed project report with the bank's appraisal of the term loan
- The unit stays in operation for at least five years
