Introducing lamp: someone in your WhatsApp who knows your business

lamp is an AI operations manager for small businesses. It works inside WhatsApp, and nothing goes out without your OK.

The owner is the system

Most small businesses we meet run the same way. The first call comes at 8 in the morning. A customer wants to know where their order is. Then a supplier calls about a payment. Then someone from the floor sends a photo of a machine that has stopped.

The answers are in a few places. Some are in Tally. Some are in an Excel sheet. Many are in a notebook on the owner's desk. The rest are in the owner's head: which customer always pays late, which supplier gives the best rate, what was promised to whom.

This works until the owner is busy or away. A payment reminder does not go out. A reorder is missed. A quote goes out at last year's rate. Nobody did anything wrong. The business simply depends on one person remembering everything.

lamp is built to carry some of that load.

What lamp does

lamp reads, checks, drafts and follows up. It reads your orders, bills and stock. It finds what needs you today. It prepares the next step and asks you on WhatsApp. When you say yes, it sends. Then it keeps following up.

Here are three examples of how that looks.

You say what you want. You type: "I wish customers paid on time." lamp checks your records and finds 4 customers who owe ₹8.2 lakh. It drafts a reminder for each one and tells you who to call first. You tap once and the reminders go out. Later it tells you that Patil Agro has already read theirs. On Friday it follows up with anyone who has not paid.

You forward a photo. A customer sends a photo of PO 4471 from Apex Pumps: 2,000 impeller housings at ₹118, due 2 November. You forward it to lamp. It reads the PO and checks that the rate matches your last quote. It creates the order. Then it checks stock, finds enough for 1,600, and drafts a purchase for the rest.

An enquiry comes in. Mehta Industries asks for 2,000 pieces. lamp drafts a quote at 18% margin, using your latest actual costs instead of an old rate sheet. Then it asks you: "Send it?"

In each case, lamp does the work between your question and your yes. The decision stays with you.

Setup takes about 2 minutes

There are no forms to fill. You sign in with your phone number or Google. There is no password.

Then you connect what you already use. That can be Tally, an ERP like SAP, Zoho or Odoo, an Excel or Google Sheet, or photos of bills and registers. If you have nothing written down yet, lamp sets up a simple system for you.

Connections are read-only. lamp reads from Tally or your ERP. It never changes anything in them. Your existing records stay exactly as they are.

Nothing goes out without your OK

Every message lamp prepares comes to you first. You can send all of them with one tap, or open them and review one by one. You can change the wording. You can say no.

Important decisions always come back to you. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, and your data stays with your business.

lamp prepares the work. You decide what goes out.

How lamp learns your business

You do not need a written process. Most small businesses do not have one, and that is fine. lamp starts from the common steps most factories follow. Then it learns from your records, and from how your team replies, approves and corrects.

It asks one short question at a time. When lamp is unsure, it asks. For example: "This customer usually gets 30 days of credit. Should this order also be 30 days?" You answer in a word, and it carries on.

It remembers. Every customer, rate, exception and decision is kept. If you agreed a special rate with one customer last year, lamp knows. If one supplier always needs a reminder call, lamp remembers that too.

You and your team can talk to lamp the way you already talk on WhatsApp: a photo, a voice note or a text. It works in English, Hindi, Marathi and 7 more Indian languages.

Who lamp is for

lamp is for owners of small and mid-sized businesses (MSMEs) who:

  • run the business mostly on WhatsApp, Tally, sheets or a notebook
  • spend too much of the day chasing payments, orders and suppliers
  • tried an ERP and stopped using it, or never wanted one
  • want help with the follow-up, but want to keep the final say

It is not for you yet if you want software that acts without asking. lamp always waits for your OK. It is also not the right fit if you need every part of the business running on it from day one. We suggest starting with one area and adding more over time. [PLACEHOLDER: any industry or business size we cannot support yet]

Start with one area

lamp covers 15 common paths that work takes through a business. We call them value streams. They sit in four groups: winning orders, making and delivering, money in and money out, and keeping things running.

You do not need to switch them all on. Pick the one that costs you the most time today. Getting paid on time is a common first choice. Add the rest when your team is comfortable.

Where it is still early

We want to be clear about what lamp is today.

It is invite only. We onboard a few businesses in each batch, so every setup gets proper attention. The next batch starts in November.

It can misread a message. A blurry photo, a short voice note or a mixed-language message can be read wrongly. This is one reason nothing goes out without your OK.

It asks more at the start. In the first weeks, lamp will ask more questions. That is how it learns. The questions get fewer as it learns how you work.

One area at a time works better. Starting with one value stream is easier for lamp and for your team than switching everything on at once.

Why we built it

A business runs on people, not software. Trust, credit terms and the best rates live in the owner's head. ERPs ask for a licence per user, 6 to 12 months of setup, and the same data typed twice. So most owners go back to WhatsApp, Tally and a notebook.

We built lamp the other way round. It learns how your business works, instead of making your business fit the software. The name comes from the magic lamp that grants wishes. The wish right now is a simple one: less stress about your business. Fewer calls to chase, fewer things to remember, more evenings at home.
